We’re Building Momentum. Now We Need to Keep Pushing Back.

Dear supporters,

Thank you to everyone who has signed the petition, shared it with others, submitted individual concerns to Homes NSW, and spoken up about the proposed 145-home social housing development at 2A–4 Edwin Flack Avenue.

Since the petition went live, we have gained significant momentum, thanks to the growing number of people in our community who are taking action.

But we cannot let up now.

We have also updated the petition with new arguments and information, including the comparison with the 145-home social housing development at Kamira Avenue, Villawood. The petition is now also available in Mandarin, so please share it with friends, family, neighbours and members of our wider community.

What we are asking

Our position is clear:

We do not want this development at 2A–4 Edwin Flack Avenue.

This is not simply about whether the site can physically accommodate 145 homes.

It is about whether this is the right location, scale and timing for a development that could accommodate approximately 363 residents.

Our concerns include:

Infrastructure and services: What will actually be operational when residents move in around 2029? A long-term Master Plan is not the same as infrastructure being ready when people arrive.

Healthcare and essential services: Sydney Olympic Park is still developing many of the everyday services needed to support a growing population.

Public transport: Existing services, including the 526 bus, are already under pressure, while major future transport projects are still years away.

Schools: There is currently no public school within Sydney Olympic Park itself, while surrounding schools are already experiencing growth and capacity pressures.

Major construction: The development is expected to overlap with major works associated with Parramatta Light Rail Stage 2.

Major events: Sydney Olympic Park is unlike an ordinary suburban environment, with significant spikes in traffic and pedestrian movements during major events.

Parking: The proposal removes existing parking capacity in a precinct that already experiences enormous parking demand during events.

Pedestrian safety: The proposed connection towards Grazier Street raises concerns about directing additional pedestrian movements into an already constrained street environment.

Long-term management: A development of this size needs clear arrangements for building management, security, maintenance, noise, rubbish, visitor management, antisocial behaviour and after-hours incidents.

The Villawood comparison: Homes NSW is delivering the same number of social housing homes at Kamira Avenue, Villawood, but in a location where established transport, shops, schools and other services already exist, while further supporting infrastructure is being actively delivered alongside the housing.

The central question remains:

Will the infrastructure and services required to support this development actually be ready when residents move in around 2029?

We believe this needs to be properly answered before this development proceeds.

Please submit your individual concerns to Homes NSW

The petition is important, but individual submissions are equally important.

I strongly encourage everyone to send their own concerns directly to the Homes NSW project team.

Email: communityengagement@homes.nsw.gov.au

Deadline: 24 September 2026

Please don’t simply copy someone else’s submission.

Tell them, in your own words, how you believe the proposed development would affect you, your family, your home, your business, your customers, your street or the wider community.

You can raise any of the issues that concern you, including traffic, parking, public transport, schools, healthcare, pedestrian safety, construction impacts, major events, emergency access, amenity, management arrangements and the suitability of the site.

Every individual submission helps demonstrate the breadth and depth of community concern.

Community Drop-In Session

I also strongly encourage everyone to attend the Homes NSW Community Drop-In Session:

Thursday 3 September 2026
Yarra Community Centre
Uhrig Road, Sydney Olympic Park
4:30pm–7:00pm

This is another opportunity to speak directly with the Homes NSW project team, ask questions and express your concerns about the proposal.

And there is an obvious irony that should not be overlooked.

The drop-in session is being held leading into a major event night, when the Bulldogs take on the Broncos at Accor Stadium.

That means the very parking and traffic pressures that are central to our concerns about this development will be playing out around the precinct while Homes NSW is holding its community consultation.

Even more strikingly, the most practical parking for the Yarra Community Centre is located exactly where this proposed development wants to subsume the existing parking.

This is a real-world example of why parking and event-day impacts need to be properly considered.

If you attend, don’t just have a look at the plans.

Ask questions. Challenge the assumptions. Tell them what this development would mean for you and the existing community.

Keep sharing the petition

We have made progress, but momentum only matters if we keep building it.

Please continue to share the petition across:

Facebook
Instagram
WhatsApp
community groups
local networks
neighbourhood groups
business networks
Mandarin-speaking community networks
friends and family
If you have already shared it, share it again.

If someone tells you they have already seen it, ask them whether they have signed.

If they have signed, ask them to share it with someone else.

Every signature helps demonstrate that this is not an isolated concern.

This is our community, and we need to keep speaking up

Sydney Olympic Park and Carter Street are already experiencing rapid growth, major construction, increasing population and significant pressure on transport, parking and services.

We are asking for infrastructure-led growth.

We are asking for the infrastructure and services needed to support this development to be ready when residents move in — not for housing to be delivered first while the infrastructure catches up later.

The petition is our collective voice.

Your individual submission is your personal voice.

The Community Drop-In Session is another opportunity to make that voice heard directly.

Please sign. Please submit. Please attend. Please share.

Let’s continue to push back on this development and make sure our community’s concerns cannot be ignored.

Thank you for your continued support.

Together, we can make sure Sydney Olympic Park and Carter Street have a strong voice in this process.

邮箱: communityengagement@homes.nsw.gov.au

Yarra Community Centre
Uhrig Road, Sydney Olympic Park

Facebook
Instagram
WhatsApp
