This petition will be an ongoing petition and part of a campaign to overturn the decision made by the Mayor and Councillors and to reinstate the NSW Electoral Commission as the management for the Council Elections.

ARTICLE PUBLISHED IN THE SOUTH WEST VOICE about the Parliamentary Petition
Local community campaigner Michael Andjelkovic launched a ePetition calling for council elections to be run by the NSW Electoral Commission, it gathered the minimum required 500 signatures for a response from the Minister for Local Government within 48 hours.
STATEMENT BY MEMBER FOR LEPPINGTON - Nathan Hagarty MP
Member for Leppington Nathan Hagarty has endorsed the petition.
“Fundamentally, this is our democracy we’re talking about, there was no consultation with the voters [of Liverpool] about how their elections will be administered,’’ he told the Voice.
“We have to have certainty and trust that our elections will be administered without fear or favour, consistently and transparently.
“I think that can only be done by the Electoral Commission,’’ he said.

In my opinion making decisions about changing who runs the Elections without any Community Consultation or Input from the Local Community and Voters is UNDEMOCRATIC indeed it could almost be considered Dictatorial.
