So much is on the move.

At times like these we need reliable forms of media to help us process how our worlds are changing.

Social Media is such a turbulent weather system: mass moving flows of influence and control that are opaque, unregulated, serving unclear agendas. 

Power is on the move on the Internet in ways we struggle to chart and understand. 

It's more important than ever that we have forms of media that scrutinise and hold power to account - to help us make sense of our world.

We need independent media that is not beholden to profit and power: we need independent news, we need independent investigative journalism, we need current affairs programmes that help shed light in dark places.

Channel 4 is home to news and investigative journalism that so many of us trust. It is not owned + controlled by billionaires and corporate power interest.

We have a new culture secretary, Michelle Donelan, who has taken over from Nadine Dorries.
