These are serious times. We need serious politicians. The fecklessness of the current government has been disastrous. We're now facing recession and a spiralling cost of living crisis. £8.7 billion pounds squandered. It's unbelievable. And now they are more interested in protecting the profits of the energy giants than the millions of people who will be plunged into fuel debt. They are more concerned with shielding the profits of the Big Oil companies than making sure people can feed themselves and their families whilst managing to keep warm in their homes this winter.

'Bumper profits of nearly £50bn shared by the world’s five biggest oil companies prompted a chorus of calls for higher taxes on the sector as UK households were told to brace for average annual energy bills of more than £3,600 this winter.'

 

It makes no sense to sell-off Channel 4. It is just another example of the current government's disregard. No one wants it but them.

From the comments on this petition, the decision is seen as being motivated by Channel 4's independent news and investigative journalism holding government to account.

We need government to be held to account, whoever is in power.

Government is supposed to work for our interests.
