Save Port Chalmers State Housing Land: MPs and Mayoral Candidates Show their Support

Last week Green Party Housing Spokesperson Tamatha Paul spoke out, saying the cancelled Port Chalmers social housing rebuild and planned land sale “represents a trampling of the community’s expectations.” You can read more here: tinyurl.com/porthomes

Our petition has just shy of 650 signatures, including those of 5 Dunedin Mayoral candidates: Marie Laufiso, Andrew Simms, Sophie Barker, Mickey Treadwell and Mandy Mayhem. We’re handing it over to Kāinga Ora on Monday.

A delegation of concerned West Harbour residents are also meeting Dunedin MP Rachel Brooking on Monday to see how she can help.

There have been about half a dozen articles about this issue in the Otago Daily Times over the last month. If anyone feels like writing a letter to the Editor, please do so. Letters should be less than 180 words, emailed to editor@odt.co.nz
