STOP THE POISON OF OUR PETS AND ANIMALS

STOP THE POISON OF OUR PETS AND ANIMALS
The Issue
There is the ongoing pandemic of individuals who commit the crime of poisoning stray and owned animals to their deaths. This illegal crime goes unpunished because we are required to give evidence as to who the perpetrators are - although we know who is responsible. What makes this even worse is that poison is also left out in public areas away from villages and towns such as in the open mountains.
Dog owners who walk with dogs on and off leads such as on public beaches and in the mountains, or when dogs accidentally escape are still hit by the tragedy of their dogs being killed by food left out and purposely laced with poison.
Disgusting people are also throwing poisoned food into the gardens of homeowners to purposely kill pets.
We are also aware that young children are also bringing the poison into their homes from school as they are able to step on or play with the food left outside these premises.
Shepherds and farmers are respected by dog owners as we keep our dogs on leads around them. It is against our freedoms as people that the respect is not returned as we cannot use public places, freely accessible to all civilians, and our pets are still being harmed and killed.
The trauma that is felt by us when our pet is murdered is unsurmountable. A member of our family is killed by a slow and painful death where nothing is done about it. No punishment, no remorse.
This must change today.
My darling girl I had for just one month after rescuing her from a local charity was poisoned in the mountains on the 3rd day we decided to walk there. I ran with her back down the mountain with her on my shoulders, panicking with tears as age was so heavy I didn't know if we were going to make it. Her foaming at the mouth and diarrhoea all over me and drove as fast as I can to a vet to try to save her life. She was shaking uncontrollably, had massive fear in her eyes and completely lost her ability to use her legs. She was paralysed. 24 hours later, bags of fluid, sedation and other injections I was told she survived. 72 hours later did she seem to be back to herself. This was the most terrifying time I've experienced as a pet owner. Losing a pet to natural causes is painful (for which I've experienced too) but in this manner is shocking. You are not prepared to lose an animal this way and to see it slowly die in front of you, just because you walked outside. Too many other people experience unfathomable emotional damage when pets sadly lose their lives to this cruel and inhumane behaviour.
Please sign this petition to see signs put up in public to remind people this is illegal activity, warnings given to suspects by the police, fines and prison sentences given to perpetrators, the retailers who sell poison to keep a list of individuals who buy it so they can be tracked.
