If it looks like a PLAZA and quacks like a PLAZA, it's STILL a PLAZA.
A classic bait-and-switch has just occurred. If you thought the plaza was gone, you are mistaken. Our Village Board clearly stated that the 'compromise' plan is as follows; wipe out our regular slip-lane with a difficult-to-maintain, completely flat expanse of fancy, expensive pavers alongside UGLY permanent parking bollards that will take the place of our normal sidewalk curb.
That is dangerous, expensive and completely UNPROVEN as there is absolutely no data to support any such FLAT zero-grade treatment with non crash-grade bollards to stop parked cars, or any such extended closure.
See this link (go to street view and twist the camera around) to view the virtually dead-end street in Lombard that is suddenly being used as the 'model' for our much busier main thoroughfare in Clarendon Hills. And ask yourself WHY in the world are we modeling Clarendon Hills after Lombard?:

Monday, May 18 is the next board meeting. Between now and then, CBBEL, our PROFESSIONAL traffic engineering firm, that works on behalf of Village residents to design safe roads, is formulating their replacement plan. Will it be safe? NO. Because it hasn't even been tested properly.
We demand a comprehensive traffic study and a full seasonal test closure and the related traffic study reports FIRST to prove the viability of this drastic measure BEFORE any BULLDOZER breaks ground and BEFORE and any part of the planned $1,000,000 is spent.
