Could you please attend the first hour of the Village Board meeting tonight from 6:30-7:30? THREE Critical issues face a vote tonight, but residents continue to speak up:
104 Walker, a 4-story multi-use development which backs directly to homes along Park and Ridge Avenues with virtually no buffer. Still includes a Hotel and new commercial space, instead of just residential, which is what it has been zoned for until now.
Downtown Workshops with a price tag of $75,000. While this exercise may be helpful, it STILL includes a downtown Plaza, even though that Plaza has been tested and proven to be unsafe, causing back-ups to our train tracks, kids climbing barriers and running into the street, and draining our small businesses of sales when our passage through town is dangerously narrowed by any such plaza. And this workshop doesn't include 104 Walker, which, if approved tonight, drastically alters the neighborhood near Walker School. This workshop should be dropping the Plaza and it should be including an assessment of what the residents REALLY want at 104 Walker - maybe a new library, maybe smaller residential buildings with community greenspace, maybe parking relief. Either way, the workshop scope falls short and it should NOT be going to a vote tonight.
Prospect Tavern is asking, once again, to take 3 parking spots for dining use for 7.5 months. Parking spot dining should be limited to 4 months and if merchants are taking up our parking spots, the Village should be returning the underutilized and dangerous cement dining slab at Wasabi back to flex dining/parking. We need our parking for Fall, Winter & Spring.
Please ATTEND:
TONIGHT Monday, Sept 15th at 6:30PM Clarendon Hills Village Hall
