Stop the planned McDonald's in Kingsteignton
The Issue
Traffic on Newton Road is bad enough as it is, and we don’t need a second McDonald’s in the area. The introduction of another fast-food outlet here will exacerbate the already challenging traffic conditions in Kingsteignton and negatively impact the residents' quality of life.
Currently, Newton Road is often congested, particularly during peak hours, causing delays and frustration for commuters and local residents alike. Adding another high-traffic business like McDonald’s will only increase this congestion, leading to longer wait times and more traffic jams.
Moreover, there is already a McDonald's located nearby, which means the necessity for another branch in such close proximity is questionable at best.
There are healthier and more community-centered alternatives we can propose. For instance, the site could be utilized for a new community center, a public park, or a family-friendly restaurant that supports local farms and businesses.
We urge the local council and decision-makers to reconsider this development, take into account the voices of Newton Abbot’s and Kingsteignton’s residents. Let’s prioritize the community's needs over corporate profits.
