Stop the Pending Smoking Ban in the UK

Stop the Pending Smoking Ban in the UK
The Issue
I am a citizen deeply concerned about our right to autonomy. The recent total smoking ban, while well-intentioned, is a misguided attempt to protect public health that instead infringes on personal freedoms and threatens to create more problems than it solves.
Most of us agree that children should not be exposed to tobacco smoke. We've grown accustomed to smoking outdoors, away from non-smokers and especially children, that's not a problem. But banning smoking for all future adults and gradually altogether? That's where we draw the line.
This law is not just an overreach—it's downright foolish. By making smoking thus cigarettes banned in the future, we're only paving the way for a black market boom in tobacco products, away from responsible shop owners who do ask for IDs and follow the already existent law regarding sale to underage people.
Moreover, this law strips responsible adults of their right to make personal decisions about their own health risks—a fundamental aspect of individual autonomy that every democratic society should respect. No one is saying everyone should smoke, but there are people who genuinely want to.
We urge lawmakers in the UK Parliament to reconsider this total ban on smoking and find a balanced solution that protects both public health and personal freedoms. Please sign this petition if you believe in preserving our rights as individuals while still promoting responsible behavior when it comes to tobacco use.
Also, if you recall, 100 years ago people tried to ban the sale of alcohol in what was known as Prohibition. Look how that turned out: bootleggers, people drinking anyway... you think it won't happen with smoking? Keeping it legal will, at least, end that headache.
