We’ve Passed 1,370 Signatures — Now We Need to Be Heard

In just over two weeks, more than 1,370 neighbors and supporters have signed our petition opposing a new landfill next to homes in Medley, Doral, and surrounding Miami-Dade communities.
And our movement is still growing.
This is about more than a number. Every signature represents a resident, a family, a child, or a neighbor asking our government leaders a simple question:
Why should the same communities that have already carried the burden of waste disposal be asked to carry even more?
Miami-Dade County has a serious waste-management challenge. We understand that.
But solving that challenge should not mean simply putting another landfill next to our homes.
We are asking our leaders to pursue a better path—one that protects public health, our air and water, our quality of life, and the long-term future of our community.
Our requests remain clear:
• No new landfill next to our neighborhoods without full public scrutiny.
• Full transparency concerning permits, environmental impacts, traffic, odors, leachate, and related agreements.
• Independent review of the potential health and environmental consequences.
• And most importantly, a serious examination of better long-term solutions for Miami-Dade’s waste, rather than continuing to concentrate this burden in the same communities.
