History of SDP for Red Rifle LTD 

The community development director for the city of Torrance has approved a new gun shop to be located at 1325 Sartori Ave in Downtown Torrance!

• 1/2 mile from Torrance High & Nativity Catholic School
• Next to places that offer classes to kids & adults like martial arts, competitive cheer, gymnastics, ballet, dance lessons, pilates and more. 
  
  
• located within the “Downtown Project Area” which has published studies, feedback and plans which none of the plans point to a guns & ammo shop. 
• Torrance is in the top 15 cities in the United States for Gun Shops per capita.
• Torrance DOES NOT RESTRICT the location of gun shops near schools or where children and families frequent.
• Torrance DOES NOT RESTRICT MINORS  from entering UNATTENDED.
• Downtown Torrance already has FFL gun sales in 5, FIVE locations within a mile of the proposed location on Sartori. 

Another location would be better suited for Red Rifle   Let’s keep any new sales away from sensitive areas like where children and families frequent and alcohol is served.

Many have submitted their appeal and paid the required $50 fee.please continue to share and send in your comments to the city. There will be a public hearing about this matter and will go before the planning commission.We must share and SHOW UP IN PERSON WHEN THE PLANNING COMMISSION HEARING TAKES PLACE!!  We will keep you updated on the hearing date once it has been set. 

We need to make better decisions and use common sense. The businesses in the neighborhood are opposed. The residents in the neighborhood are opposed. The students who have found out about this and parents are very upset and opposed. The Board of Education is opposed.  

Make your voice heard. Tell our city officials that WE DO NOT WANT A GUN SHOP IN DOWNTOWN TORRANCE OR ANYWHERE NEAR OUR SCHOOLS. 

MAKE IT KNOWN THAT WE DO NOT WANT THIS OR NEED THIS IN OUR HISTORIC DOWNTOWN TORRANCE NEIGHBORHOOD  

 TELL THE CITY OF TORRANCE THAT WE DO NOT WANT RED RIFLE LTD OPENING IN THE DOWNTOWN TORRANCE NEIGHBORHOOD!

Dear Concerned Citizens,          

An amended staff report (please disregard attachment in previous email, see revised attachment) that includes additional correspondence received during the 15-day comment period which were not included in the initial staff report for Special Development Permit application (SDP22-00002) for Red Rifle gun shop located at 1325 Sartori Avenue, Torrance was approved by the Community Development Director on July 21, 2022.  The decision of the Community Development Director may be appealed to the Planning Commission within 15 calendar days of the decision by filing the appropriate appeal form and paying the $50 appeal fee to the City of Torrance City Clerk at 3031 Torrance Boulevard, Torrance, California 90503 by 5:30 pm, August 5, 2022.  Questions regarding how to submit the appeal should be directed to the City Clerk’s Office at 310-618-2870 or CityClerk@TorranceCA.gov.
