Compassion in Politics is proud to be co-hosting an important event this coming Tuesday 29th April.
As political disinformation continues to threaten to undermine democracy across the world we are bringing together politicians from three countries to explore how we can use the law to stop political disinformation.
We’re delighted to announce that two more politicians are now joining the line-up. Debbie Abrahams MP who chairs the Work and Pensions Select Committee and previously led the APPG on Compassionate Politics and Dr Liz Savage MP. Liz holds four Guinness World Records for ocean rowing, including for being the first woman to row solo across three oceans.
They’ll be joining the Australia MP and former Winter Olympian, Zali Steggall who has introduced bills to ‘Stop the Lies’ into the Australian Parliament and Welsh MS Adam Price, the former leader of Plaid Cymru who has secured a commitment from the Welsh Government to legislate against politicians who lie.
The event will be chaired by our CEO Jennifer Nadel, who has led our campaign to introduce a law to prevent politicians and is being co-hosted with our partners at Reform Political Advertising.
With elections just around the corner in both the UK and Australia, now is the time to come together and explore how we can rebuild public trust and push for truthful, compassionate politics.
