This is not the Britain I believe in.
I want Britain to be a strong, courageous, and open country doing good for the world.
But the Deportation to Rwanda Bill is the opposite.
It’s a Bill built on fear - fear of tackling some of the world’s gravest problems.
It’s a Bill built on weakness - a refusal to look at the suffering faced by asylum seekers and to offer them the help they need.
And it’s a Bill built on lies - lies about the conditions asylum seekers will face on arrival in Rwanda.
We know we can do better.
During WW2 Britain proudly offered a home to over 20,000 Jewish children who were fleeing from the Nazis.
This stands as one of our country’s greatest achievements - the mark of a nation prepared to stand-up to fascism and intolerance.
Thanks to you and your support, we’re building a coalition of politicians and activists who want to see Britain make a return to those kind of values.
