The political environment in Westminster is well and truly toxic.

Did you see the recent survey which revealed a mental health crisis for those having to work in parliament? 

The survey found that nearly half of MPs staff are suffering from psychological distress levels that are akin to emergency responders. 

What’s more, there’s no mandatory training to equip them to deal with the psychological impact of the trauma and distress many deal with on a daily basis. 

One in five expressed fears for their safety and their colleagues', calling for a hotline to voice concerns.

The rise in stress levels is being linked to the heightened pressure caused by global conflicts like those in Gaza and Ukraine.

These are our frontline political workers and their health is being put at serious risk. 

MPs and the wider parliamentary system have a duty of care that isn’t currently being fulfilled. Working in politics shouldn’t mean forfeiting basic rights as an employee.  

It doesn’t need to be this way however. 

Compassion in Politics wants to provide specially designed Resilience and Self-care training and support to our political front line workers. Our Compassion training has been scientifically shown to improve resilience and reduce reactivity and stress

We want to give political staff a proven, practical, and powerful set of tools to protect their physical and mental wellbeing. 

Aside from the moral imperative, if we want to change the system we need those working in it to have the capacity to do things differently.  

We need your help in delivering this. In the current climate we can’t deliver this training for free, we also know how strained wellbeing budgets are in politics but despite this we want to make sure that staff receive proper support. As the election approaches, the stress they are under is only going to get worse.
