Thank you for supporting Savethebay.ca and our fight against the overdevelopment of the Muskoka Regional Centre property. Signing the Change.org petition has helped gain attention and spread the word.
The developer's proposal is seriously flawed — exceeding Gravenhurst's Official Plan, ignoring zoning protections, and directly contradicting Infrastructure Ontario's own 2015 recommendations.
The plan includes:
Removal of zoning shoreline buffers, setbacks and height restrictions
1,375 high-density condo & resort units including 10 x 6 storey buildings
Over-water construction on Crown lakebed of 2 restaurants, 33 water villas, and a 262-foot pier
A marina with up to 80 boat slips
The developer’s negotiations have been happening quietly behind an NDA, and we fear the Ontario Government may act soon, possibly during the summer recess, potentially approving the proposal providing the MZO that would override all local planning protections.
The Muskoka Lakes Association (MLA) with the Muskoka Bay Property Owners Association (MBPOA) and supported by many dedicated volunteers, have been working hard advocating for a responsible development.
They have engaged government relations consultants who are adding real value to get through to local government and Queens Park — but their continued work requires funding.
Many have contributed but without additional support, our ability to continue to influence government decisions will be limited. Every contribution helps protect Muskoka Bay.

We also urgently need help with a physical petition. The Ontario Government stated it will not accept electronic petitions — only original signed copies. We already have 500+ signatures, but we need more. Please download the petition, sign it, and mail it back to us. We know it's a big ask, but it will carry real weight when presented to Queen's Park.

Once provincial approvals are granted and construction begins, there is no way to undo the damage.
