Thanks you so much to everyone who signed the Severnside Acton Group petition, we have made it to over 2000 Signature!!!
If we can make it to 2500 South Gloucestershire Council are obliged to hold a special council meeting to debate the Pilning Megawarhouse development!
It is so important to come together as a community on mass to push back against bullying developers and week local authorities to prevent this type of intrusive development happening all over the country!
We under stand that you can't stop progress however local communities, environment, wildlife must not be sacrificed in the name of development! this petition will go someway to putting pressure on Government and local authorities stop developer openly flouting the planning laws and make it compulsory to leasing closely with local communities.
At present democracy is not work, the very people we voted in to steward our Communities are siding with powerful developers with deep pockets to avoid excessive legal challenges.
Donations go to Change.org and not to the petition and are completely optional.
THE PILNING PETITION
STOP MEGAWAREHOUSE DESTROYING HOMES IN PILNING VILLAGE (CRANMOOR GREEN and MARSH COMMON ROAD)
To South Gloucestershire County Council from Severnside Residents Action Group
SGC should not have approved the Pilning Megawarehouse at the expense of our homes. The warehouse is being built on the most inappropriate site, looming over Cranmoor Green in the village of Pilning and causing major adverse impact. With 79 loading bays, 336 car parking spaces and 95 HGV spaces, it will create constant noise, flashing lights, reversing alarms, 24/7 disturbance, loss of daylight, and increased flood risk. No effective landscape mitigation for Pilning or Easter Compton villages nor the worst affected homes in Cranmoor Green and Marsh Common Road.
The grant of planning consent contradicted SGC’s stated priority of delivering “a fairer, greener future for the places we call home.” The planning applications were effectively kept secret—with no letters of notification nor any real chance for us to object. Environmental Protection failed in its duty to safeguard us, and decision makers were not informed that the 1957 consent intended that development should “harmonise with its surrounding landscape.” Key facts, including the presence of Cranmoor Green, were barely mentioned, and the information provided was unclear and incomplete.
We request an independent review of SGC’s planning department. We also call for revocation or significant amendment of the warehouse planning consents by SGC using its powers under Sections 97 or 102 of the Town and Country Planning Act, including review of the site access and area buffer zone. Additionally we request an immediate discussion with planning committee members and developer.
Thank you for your support!
