There have been 67 reported whale/dolphin deaths on the NE coast of the United States since Dec. 2022 according to NOAA! I am sure there were many more that were not reported because they didn't make it to shore. This "unique mortality event" is completely unprecedented and should be a wake up call to all of us in the USA! We know that pile driving into the sea bed and scouring (Dropping tons of rocks and cement onto the sea floor to hold the cables down) the ocean floor where the turbines are currently being installed are very likely causing our marine mammals lives to be disrupted. Science tells us loud noise, especially the prolonged extremely loud sounds being experienced by the cetaceans, will cause them to become frightened, disoriented, panicked, feel pain and in the worst case scenario become immediately deaf. A deaf whale is a dead whale because they use their sensitive sense of hearing the way humans use our eyes. They need to hear to stay with and communicate with their pod, especially mothers and babies, to stay away from ships and other obstacles moving in the ocean, hunt for food, avoid predators etc. We know that the noise off our coast from the offshore wind projects has been much louder than was first explained to us. We know that there has been a significant rise in the number of vessels in the areas where this work is proceeding and we know those areas are where the strandings are happening. Coincidence? I think NOT! 

The industrialization of millions of acres of our ocean is being forced on us by state and federal government with absolutely no regard for the will of the people or the science that has been and continues to be made public. Our rights, our land and our money have all been taken from us and in the case of NJ given to a foreign for profit company! We must remember all those who voted that way in the next election!

Please sign and share this petition and call your legislators, both state and federal and demand a full stop to offshore wind! Don't believe anyone who says there is no evidence this work is killing our whales or that they are all dying from ship strikes. If an animal panics and quickly swims away from a sudden prolonged deafening noise then gets hit by a vessel what is the real cause? The noise and pollution happening off our shores can and must be stopped. 67 Deaths and billions of US dollars going to foreign companies who say they will not do these projects without these mega subsidies so their investors can see a profit! When will it be enough?
