Stop The Luxury Condo Development at King & Cowan!

Stop The Luxury Condo Development at King & Cowan!
The Issue
KingSett Capital, one of Canada’s largest developers, has proposed a luxury 21-storey condo building at the northeast corner of King and Cowan (1304-1318 King Street and 143-145 Cowan Avenue). The proposed condo will contain 263 units - 49% studio, 17% one-bedroom, 24% two-bedroom, and 10% three-bedroom with only five parking spots. Zero affordable units.
This luxury condo is just one of the many "luxury" developments set for Parkdale where gentrification is quickly erasing some of Toronto's last affordable rentals as for-profit developers take over our neighborhood.
Join the fight as we demand KingSett Capital guarantee at least 30% of units are affordable, adequate, and accessible.
KingSett Capital and other for-profit developers must prioritize the people of Parkdale—its working-class and low-income residents—by adhering to the Parkdale Community Benefits Framework, a community-driven plan created to address the surge of developments and investments in the neighbourhood.
Toronto City Council recently rejected this development application—a victory for the community! However, KingSett Capital has now appealed to the Ontario Land Tribunal to push the condo through. The community will keep fighting at the provincial level, demanding their voices be heard.
Please sign this petition to take a stand against this development.
Join the community as we say no to displacement and take action against for-profit housing!
