Stop the Leverhulme Estates Ltd plan to build on Pensby's Green Belt
The Issue
Many Pensby residents who have lived in the area for years have come to deeply appreciate the beauty and tranquility of our local Green Belt. As a community, we are united in our love for this natural area, which provides a much-needed escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It is a place where wildlife thrives. Now, all of this is under threat.
Leverhulme Estates Ltd is seeking permission to develop on our cherished Green Belt land. This plan would not only destroy the aesthetics of our community but also impact the environment, wildlife, and the mental well-being of countless residents who rely on this green space for solace. It is more than just a patch of land; it is the heart of our community.
Building on this land would lead to increased pollution, traffic congestion, and strain on local resources, such as schools and healthcare services. According to a study by the Environmental Agency, built-up areas in surrounding regions have seen a reduction in air quality and green space, leading to numerous health issues. Pensby must not become another statistic.
Furthermore, the National Planning Policy Framework emphasises the importance of protecting Green Belt lands to prevent urban sprawl and maintain the integrity of our towns and cities. By approving this development, we risk setting a dangerous precedent for future developments in other cherished green spaces across the country.
We call for Wirral Council to reject this plan in line with its brownfield-only policy and explore alternative options that would allow for the development of affordable housing without compromising the integrity of our Green Belt.
Preserving our Green Belt is of utmost importance for the future of Pensby. We must vigorously defend it, ensuring that our children and grandchildren can enjoy the same beauty we have cherished for so long. Please join me in sending a strong message to Leverhulme Estates Ltd and our local council. Sign this petition to protect our Green Belt from irreversible development.
