Fantastic Media Coverage and Parliamentary Questions - as we approach 115,000 signatures

Hi folks,

Just an update to let you know that I'm busy behind the scenes with the petition.

Media Coverage in UK and Worldwide!
Following discussions with some excellent journalists, I managed to get amazing coverage for our campaign in both The Guardian and The Mail last weekend, together with a piece on the Blouin News website in the United States.
Our campaign even made the news in Cuba with a good article published by the Latin America News Agency in Havana.
All the publicity makes for wider public awareness - and more support for the campaign.
The petition is currently approaching 115,000 signatures.

Parliamentary Questions - and Banal Response from Government
Meanwhile, MP Rt Hon Frank Field tabled a parliamentary question on my behalf to the Environment Secretary, which was answered by Defra's under secretary of state Dr Thérèse Coffey a few days ago. The response from Dr Coffey was merely a trite repetition of the standard bilge we are used to from Natural England - so I wrote and told her so.

Meanwhile Mr Field has tabled an additional, more specific, question putting our concerns to Defra and Natural England for a second time.
Lets hope their response this time will be more considered and less clichéd....

I'm still awaiting replies to messages I sent both to Mr Gove and the incoming chair of Natural England, Tony Juniper.
I know they are probably both terribly busy - but the courtesy of an acknowledgement would still be most welcome.

Thanks to all of you who are sharing and promoting the petition, it makes a huge difference.
Thanks for all the messages of support which is really so encouraging.
Thanks also to Change.org themselves who have been very helpful with suggestions and co-operation since we broke through the 100,000 barrier.
There has been a little bit of confusion, since the recent media coverage, because one or two other people have set up similar petitions to ours - it doesn't help to duplicate petitions, it just splits the signatures. So if you see another petition relating to our cause then please post a link to ours which is the original and, as such, has a better chance of succeeding.

And that's about all for now.
Rest assured I will be continuing my efforts to get our campaign in front of influential people at a high level - at what point will the government decide to engage with us? Well 115,000 signatures is hard for them to ignore. So let's just keep on going, next goal is 150,000...
