Petition updateSTOP THE KILLING OF MUTE SWANS IN MICHIGAN
SWANS IN DANGER IN ANN ARBOR AND GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY

Karen StamperCommerce Twp, MI, United States

I found out recently that the Michigan DNR will be killing all mute swans on a lake in Ann Arbor very soon. They told someone they would tag a male swan that eats out of people's hands and he can stay. The people called someone who called me , but that person couldn't give me any info about the lake. We have got to find out what lake this is. If anyone hears of any lake associations having swans killed in Ann Arbor, please contact me. We need to spread the word and get these killings stopped if possible, if you live on a lake, please have your cameras ready. Unfortunately, people tend to take notice when they have visuals.
Then there's a pair of mute swans in Grand Traverse County Michigan near Cass Rd bridge that is nesting, and the construction company working on the Boardman Dam Project is filling in the water around the pair. The DNR rep in this video says they will do nothing to help this pair and the construction company has no plan to help them either. They put the ball in the DNR's court. I'm not sure if bombarding their phones and e-mails will help or hurt, but here is the contact info for both, the DNR and the construction company. Re-homing to someone with a private pond would be the best solution for this problem, but I'm sure the DNR won't go for the humane solution.
