Hi Everyone,
The following are the mute swan counts for Michigan. As you can see, they do not make much sense, especially, the 2014 count and the number they killed in 2014. The aerial survey counts do not seem to be very accurate.
Current mute swan counts that the DNR / USDA are admitting to:
The number of swans in Michigan
2011 - 15,500
2012 - problems with survey
2013 - 17,520
2014 - 9131
2015 – Have to wait until the end of the month or I will be charged for the info
The number killed in Michigan:
2011 - 1712
2012 - 2628
2013 - 1847
2014 - 1191
2015 – 456 ( need DNR’s #’s)
TOTAL KILLED : 7517
If you would like to help us in the care for the injured swans we rescue, we can always use feed (Tractor Supply), clean, dry straw, lettuce, (not iceberg), meal worms, dish soap, latex gloves, and monetary donations are always welcomed and very much appreciated.
