On 10/22/2022 at 10:05am my son Jimmy Rodriguez Jr was killed while taking pictures at a best in the desert race event in Laughlin NV. Jimmy was struck by a jeepspeed vehicle and died on site. The vehicle killed my son less than 1/4 mile from the start line. The vehicle was cleared to race in the event by best in the desert inspection team. After Jimmy’s death Best in the Desert stopped the race for a little over one hour then resumed the race not far from my sons body while investigators were on-site. Best in the desert has had many recent deaths during their events. The federal land permit SRP needs to be put on hold until best in the desert can show and prove to the public they have evaluated and put into practice safety measures that truly work.
