The Issue

Simmers against hate, the time is long overdue to unite and demand essential changes to The Sims online Gallery platform.

Our mission is to create a fair, truly inclusive, and safe space for ALL simmers, irrespective of their race, sexual orientation, or religious background. We strive to address the alarming issue of targeted harassment and wrongful banning faced by Black Simmers, LGBTQIA, and Jewish Simmers within the Sims community.

The current state of the online gallery is deeply concerning. Black simmers, LGBTQIA, and Jewish simmers are systematically targeted, resulting in mass reporting and unwarranted bans. This unjust treatment not only hinders their creative expression but also perpetuates a hostile environment that contradicts the inclusive values The Sims purports to uphold.

Moreover, we are dismayed by the alarming disparity in content moderation. While hateful simmers are able to freely showcase deplorable and offensive content such as depictions of slavery, plantations, and other forms of racism, bigotry, and xenophobia, attempts to report these offensive materials are met with inadequate responses. The lack of consequences for such individuals further exacerbates the feelings of exclusion and marginalization experienced by vulnerable simmers.

We implore The Sims and EA to take immediate action to rectify these issues.

We propose the following improvements to the gallery platform:

  1. Robust Content Moderation: Implement a stringent and proactive content moderation system to swiftly address and remove offensive, hateful, and harmful content, including racist, xenophobic, and discriminatory creations.
  2. Transparent Reporting System: Establish a transparent and efficient reporting process that enables simmers to report instances of hate speech, harassment, and discriminatory behavior. Ensure thorough investigations are conducted to verify the validity of reports and prevent false reports from resulting in wrongful bans.
  3. Community Representation: Actively seek input and representation from marginalized simmers in decision-making processes related to community guidelines, content moderation, and platform improvements. Include diverse voices and perspectives to foster an inclusive environment.
  4. Education and Awareness: Develop educational initiatives to promote awareness, empathy, and understanding within the Sims community. Implement resources and guidelines that educate simmers about cultural sensitivity, appropriate content creation, and the importance of inclusivity.

We call upon The Sims and EA to uphold their commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and safety within their community. By addressing these concerns and making the necessary changes to the online gallery platform, The Sims can truly become a safe and welcoming space where all simmers can thrive, express their creativity, and feel valued.

Join us in signing this petition to stand against hate, foster inclusivity, and demand a better Sims community for all.
