My daughter, along with many other Valparaiso residents, have been the victim of illegal towing topped off with harassment and vulgar speech by a local business owner at L & G Towing.

He is contracted by multiple apartment buildings in Valparaiso where he tows illegally parked cars along with legally parked cars, at times. Once he has towed your vehicle you will be bombarded with phones calls and texts letting you know he has your vehicle, degrading texts that demand exorbitant amounts to release your vehicle along with excessive fees for storage. He typically meets vehicle owners at gas stations throughout Valparaiso to return the vehicle. At times, will intimidate the owner into removing their own vehicle from his tow truck. This conduct is not just offensive but downright degrading. The owner's continuous disregard for the wellbeing of our community members is a cause for concern.

Our town deserves respect and kindness from all its establishments. A local business should act as a support system for our community, not a place where intimidation thrives. All citizens of Valparaiso, including customers of this business, should be treated with respect and dignity. Refusing to address this behavior suggests tacit approval and further empowers the vulgar attacks.

As an integral part of the community, this business should uphold the values of respect, tolerance, and empathy. Instead, it's causing emotional distress and discomfort among us Valparaiso citizens.

Aggression, bullying, and intimidation lead to various psychological impacts, as found in a study from the National Institutes of Health. We demand that the responsible authorities take immediate action against this inappropriate conduct by the business owner.
