Dear Supporters,

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support in our plight to stop the harassment and irresponsible feeding of sea turtles at Playa Piskadó in Westpunt, Curaçao. Thanks to your efforts, our petition has now garnered over 2,500 signatures. This is a significant milestone, but it is only the beginning. We need at least 10,000 signatures for the government to formally acknowledge the seriousness of this issue. Ultimately, our goal is to gather more than 30,000 signatures to drive real, lasting change.

The time for action is now. The ongoing mistreatment of these majestic creatures is not only a grave concern for their well-being but also a direct threat to our marine ecosystem. Apathy is not an option. We must take a stand—today—to preserve Playa Piskadó and ensure that future generations can experience the beauty of a balanced, thriving environment.

Why Your Continued Support is Vital
Sea turtles are in danger at Playa Piskadó. Despite being a popular snorkeling and diving destination, human interference—such as aggressive interactions and feeding—has created an unnatural dependency on humans, increasing the risk of injury, disease, and disruption of their natural behaviors. This exploitation, disguised as a tourist attraction, must end.

The Dangers of Feeding Wild Sea Animals
Research conducted by marine biologists reveals the dangers associated with feeding wild sea animals. In a study published in the scientific journal Global Ecology and Conservation, researchers highlight the detrimental effects of feeding on the natural behavior, health, and well-being of sea turtles.

Dr. Christianen, a leading expert in marine conservation, emphasizes the need to communicate the consequences of feeding activities to tourists worldwide. Feeding disrupts the natural foraging behavior of turtles, exposes them to unhealthy diets, and increases the risk of entanglement in marine debris.

The Curaçao Community Must Unite
We desperately need the support of the local Curaçao community, conservation groups, and the scuba diving and snorkeling operators. You, as community members and stakeholders, have a direct role to play in influencing change. We urge dive shops, tour operators, and conservation organizations to speak out, educate visitors, and advocate for responsible wildlife interactions.

  • Advocate for Responsible Tourism – If you are part of the diving or snorkeling industry in Curaçao, make conservation a priority. Commit to a CODE OF CONDUCT. Then educate guests and strongly discourage irresponsible behavior around marine life.
  • Call for Government Action – Let local authorities know that this is a serious issue that requires immediate intervention.

The Land and Sea Are Interconnected – We Must Protect Them Together
Curaçao’s natural beauty, both on land and beneath the waves, is what makes our island special. But without responsible stewardship, we risk losing it. The well-being of sea turtles is a reflection of the health of our oceans, and when we protect them, we protect our entire ecosystem.

The battle to preserve Playa Piskadó is about more than just sea turtles—it is about our responsibility as caretakers of this planet. Let’s not be the generation that stood by and watched our environment deteriorate. Instead, let’s be the voices that demand respect, responsibility, and real action.

Please take a moment to sign and share the petition today. Together, we can ensure that Playa Piskadó remains a sanctuary for sea turtles, not a place of exploitation.

Thank you for your support and dedication to protecting Curaçao’s natural heritage.
