Formal Request for Public Correction Regarding Speeding on Academy Street

Dear Mayor Carley,
I am sure you have received my response to your statement on Change.org regarding speeding on Academy Street. Your assertion that there is no speeding problem on Academy Street is, in our committee’s view, a serious misrepresentation of the facts. After reviewing your statement and the evidence available, our committee has unanimously agreed that a public correction is warranted.
As you are aware, our petition includes police data and numerous community testimonials that directly challenge your claim that speeding is not a problem on Academy Street. We believe this evidence is compelling and deserves to be addressed directly and transparently.
We are therefore formally requesting that you post an update on our petition acknowledging that your statement regarding speeding on Academy Street was inaccurate and correcting the record. Attempting to dismiss the core issues we have raised, rather than addressing the evidence, is unacceptable. Our community deserves a response grounded in facts, transparency, and accountability.
We believe a response within the next 24 hours is a reasonable deadline for you to provide this public correction. If we do not receive a response within that time, our committee will proceed to the next phase of community outreach to ensure these concerns receive the attention they deserve.
Leadership and accountability go hand in hand. Your statement that there is no speeding problem on Academy Street raises serious questions about whether the township fully recognizes the concerns being expressed by its residents. Given the available police data and firsthand accounts from community members, we expect these concerns to be taken seriously and addressed on their merits. We are asking for factual accuracy, responsible leadership, and meaningful action on issues that directly affect our community.
We look forward to your response and expect a clear, direct, and substantive reply addressing the concerns outlined above.
Sincerely,
The Kingston Coalition
