Our family story is not unique. Like many others nationwide, we've opened our homes and hearts to provide love, care, and support to our adopted daughter, who, like many adopted children, requires therapy due to the hardships faced at an early age. The Adoption Support Fund has been a bedrock of support for families like ours. However, the decreasing funds deeply concern us as they threaten the well-being of our loved ones.

Statistics reveal a grim picture. Since its launch in 2015, the fund has aided over 50,000 children in dire need of therapeutic services. Yet, the recent decline alarms us, as it threatens to abandon these vulnerable children when they need it most.

A harsh reality is that reducing this fund can actually escalate government spending in the long run. If the fund withdraws, and adoptions break down due to mental health issues, the resulting costs for the children to return to full-time care are monumentally higher.

We weigh this with heavy hearts and open hands, requesting immediate attention and action from our leaders. We urge policy-makers to consider the human and financial implications of decreasing the Adoption Support Fund. Keep the lifeline intact, cease the gradual reduction, and consider the needs of these young ones who deserve the love and care every child is entitled to.
