The Issue

Who Is Impacted?
Every Montanan—urban and rural—feels the weight of a system rigged by backroom deals and personal vendettas. In Sanders County and beyond, “good ol’ boy” networks shield judicial officers who fast-track favored outcomes: jury panels assembled off-record, defendants sidelined without explanation, and lawful processes bypassed to protect insiders. Meanwhile, law-enforcement misconduct—from warrantless hospital searches to uninvestigated use-of-force complaints—goes unpunished. Incarcerated Montanans, already vulnerable, face unsafe conditions and medical neglect with zero oversight. Neighbors whisper in fear, reluctant to speak up when friends, family, or themselves become targets of unchecked authority. This corruption corrodes our communities and erodes trust in every courtroom, police precinct, and correctional facility across the state.

What Is at Stake?
If we don’t act, Montana’s promise of “equal justice under law” will be a hollow slogan. Secret jury vetting risks wrongful convictions; unchecked prosecutorial conflicts invite favoritism; rogue judges dodge accountability; and prison authorities literally gamble with lives through unsafe food and negligent healthcare. Local businesses hesitate to invest, knowing that contracts, zoning disputes, and regulatory rulings can be swayed by who you know. Families dread that a simple traffic stop or a routine court date could spiral into a personal vendetta. Without robust reforms, our state risks becoming synonymous not with frontier fairness, but with insider privilege and institutional impunity.

Why Act Now?
We stand at a crossroads. As the Legislature’s Law & Justice Interim Committee plans its next hearings and oversight agencies dust off stale complaint files, there’s an urgent window to demand real change. Postpone reform even a few months, and entrenched interests will tighten their grip, burying evidence and muting whistle-blowers. But if we mobilize today—signatures in hand, stories shared, elected officials on notice—we can compel the adoption of transparent procedures, independent investigations, and enforceable disciplinary measures. This is our opportunity to dismantle the “system within a system” before it becomes unbeatable.

Our Voices Will Be Heard
Montanans—stand up. Sign this petition. Share your story of “good ol’ boy” favoritism or bulldozed due process. Tag your friends, family, and local leaders. Flood public comment periods. When we unify, even the most stubborn insiders must listen. Let’s reclaim fairness, enforce accountability, and ensure Montana’s justice system serves every citizen—no exceptions.
