Three things you can do this week, wherever you live
Hi everyone,
Kogan isn't the only one. More than 120 data centres are built, approved or proposed across Australia, and the rules haven't caught up. Here are three things you can do this week.
1. Ask for a pause (2 minutes). The Stop Dirty Data Deals campaign in Ipswich makes it easy to email the Deputy Premier, who is also the Planning Minister. The email asks for a one-year statewide pause on new data centre approvals: https://stopdirtydatadeals.org/
2. See what's planned near you (5 minutes). This map shows every data centre built, approved or proposed in Australia. Check your area, add what you know, or register a local group: https://www.fieldteam.org/datacentres
3. Stand with young people (Sunshine Coast). On Wednesday 21 October, 9am to 11:30am, young people from Strikers for AI Regulation are rallying in Maroochydore to call for AI regulation. They'll be outside a meeting held to promote AI's benefits. The location will be posted here: [link]
And save the date: Saturday 14 November, 11am, King George Square, Brisbane. Join Pause AI Brisbane to call for a pause on more powerful AI until it's proven safe and communities get a say. More details soon.
