Petition updateStop the giant AI data centre Near Dalby

We’ve worked hard for this. Now, let’s mobilise.

Hello everyone,

Thank you again. More than 8,500 of us have now signed. That tells decision-makers we aren’t staying silent. The big decisions are being made by billionaires, politicians and massive corporations. Not by us. So locals are asking the questions themselves, at two free forums run by Western Downs Says Pause.

Dalby: Tuesday 27 October, 5:30pm to 7:30pm, Russell Tavern, 1 Cunningham St. RSVP: https://events.humanitix.com/data-centre-and-ai-risks-community-forum
Toowoomba: Wednesday 28 October, 5:30pm to 7:30pm, LifeWorks Uniting Church, 615 Boundary St, Glenvale. RSVP: https://events.humanitix.com/toowoomba-data-centre-and-ai-risks-community-forum
You'll hear from AI risk researcher Associate Professor Michael Noetel (UQ), Dr Masoud Komi (UQ), Dr Shay Dougall from Chinchilla, and church leaders. Then it's your turn. Who can switch it off? What safety precautions are needed? Who pays for the power? What happens to our water and land?

You don't need to be an expert, or to have made up your mind. Bring your questions and your neighbours.

Further away? Save Saturday 31 October. People from across Queensland are meeting in Brisbane to plan what we do next on AI and data centres:

Morning, 10:30am to 12:30pm: a workshop to grow PauseAI Queensland's protest group, with training from experienced organisers. Venue to be confirmed. RSVP: https://events.humanitix.com/ai-protest-group-building
Afternoon, 1pm to 3:30pm: "Who gets a say in Queensland?", a strategy session for community groups, farmers, unions, faith groups and anyone who wants to work on this together. Queensland College of Art, Griffith University, South Bank. RSVP: https://events.humanitix.com/who-gets-a-say-in-queensland

Thanks for standing up,
Ryan
