By March 21, 2026, our petition will have gathered 3,000 signatures from people standing up to Doug Ford's latest power grab - one designed to draw down the blinds on whatever window we still have into his corrupt administration.
Let's not rest - but urge our friends on X, Instagram, and other social media platforms to join and sign and share!
Check out our study of Ford’s false claims and disingenuous arguments for amending Ontario’s FIPPA – Part I.
Check out mainstream media's continuing criticism of Ford's autocratic gambit.
Finally, check out our supporters' comments - no one says it better:
K. B.: What are you trying to hide that you are trying to revoke this access to information
D. D.: Ford is showing his true autocratic values. Removing the freedom of information is the only way he can get from under all the charges against him. This has been described as "shocking" by most institutions in this province and country. If he gets away with this, this province will NEVER be the same again. Something very similar to what's going on with Trump and his gang.
D. J.: He’s trying to hide something … or many “things” … 🤔
A. L.: Transparency is one of the most important things for political leaders to follow, and FOI holds leaders accountable to that transparency.
K. T.: Liar liar pants on fire! 🔥 Doug Ford is attempting to cover up ALL his questionable dealings, all the while using our tax dollars to line his and his cronies’ pockets. I guess he wants to halt any public scrutiny! No accountability for not putting money into particularly healthcare, but also so many other sectors. I sincerely hope that his constituents will wake up next election!!!
L. C.: What does he have to hid, all information should be available to the public
L. C.: Stop, just stop. What are you hiding?
C. M.: Transparency and a stable, peaceful, democratic society go hand in hand.
J. V.: The bombardment of information these days is also a lack of transparency. The information we can access in this day and age of AI is always a question of believability. A search engine that doesn't allow for pinpointing to the request made, giving so much data that it's nearly impossible to get to the truth. Through frustration or lack of time you just give up.
M. A. Z.: We need to stop the person from hiding all the information that the taxpayers are entitled to
S. C.: It’s time for Dougie to go
J. B.: People with nothing to hide, hide nothing. Take some accountability, Doug!
Y. W.: The government MUST be accountable. Doug Ford already has a lengthy list of wrongdoings and corrupt dealings that cost Ontarian taxpayers billions while lining his pockets and those of private companies and developers. Much was discovered after the FOI was used to obtain information.
C. Y.: Transparent “describes things that are easy to understand, obvious, or open and honest, such as in business or motives.” You can’t be open and honest, Mr. Premier, if you’re hiding things from the public.
C. V.: Ford has to go, if you voted Conservative I’m sure you did not want all his crooked deals. Party has to change how they operate.
D. H.: The main reason government would want to halt freedom of information is if it has something to hide. This Government must be accountable to the people they are supposed to represent. After years of increasingly dangerous undermining of Ontario's treasures (education, health care, environment and democracy) Doug Ford now plans to close the door to oversight and democracy finally. Transparency ensures accountability in government. We will soon become what our ancestors fought to defend us from. And as undemocratic as our neighbour has now become.
J. V.: Transparency and accountability aren't just buzz words to be thrown around during elections. The Ford government needs to put their money where their mouth is.
C. B.-C.: Transparency is important! What would we not know if this had already been in place? What will we not be able to find out if this gets put into place?
L. M.: Please sign this petition, show crooks and liars like Doug Ford that us Canadians aren’t putting up with this anymore.
T. McA.: Premiere Ford, please spend some time learning how to operate effectively WITHIN the FOI rules. Others have done it, you can as well. Thanks in advance.
C. D.: I love freedom and I love democracy: this is a direct attack on both of those things. Doug Ford claims to be running the “most transparent government” and I believe this is a lie. If he has nothing to hide, he would not be prompting his Government to change the law to hide records from the public. This is unacceptable.
A. A.-A.: Absolutely outrageous. It's a betrayal of all democratic values and an example of clear cut corruption.
B. D.: This demands a detailed explanation and reason explaining why such a bill was ever proposed. There is no non tyrannical reason to restrict the freedom of information act. This is criminal.
K. V.: It’s time for the people of Ontario to band together to hold our government accountable.
E. W.: Stop Ford and his criminal cohorts. And say No to Alto!
S. D.: Transparency ensures accountability of government. There is absolutely no reason why government should be able to hide its actions from voters.
C. S.: Only people that have something to hide will make these kinds of regulations. Ford you said you would be the most open and transparent leader so prove it by squashing this bill.
A.-M. S.: Unacceptable. Decisions made by our elected representatives, and/or any department, ministry or offices that fall under them, need to be fully available to the taxpayers footing the bill. Always. A.M Scanlon Scarborough ON
A. R.: The only reason to vote yes on this is, you are trying to hide wrong-doing. Our press need to be able to hold our politicians accountable. The politicians need to be held accountable to the people that voted them in.
B. A.: Pay attention!!!! Have you seen what is happening elsewhere when these corrupt governments are allowed to go unchecked? Speak up people before it's too late. Collectively, we have the power to stop Doug Ford .
J. C.: The actions of public officials should always be transparent and accountable to the public.
T. P.: Premier Ford, I am outraged by your disrespectful treatment of the public. We voted you as premier to deliver on your campaign promises like ending hallway medicine. We did not elect you to disregard the rights of citizens to know what your government is discussing and planning. We have a right to that information
K. M.: Doug Ford should be investigated for all his corruption and then treated like any criminal.
C. H.: Governments are accountable to the people. Ford is looking to be free of accountability, that needs stop.
J. M.: After years of increasingly dangerous undermining of all of Ontario”s treasures (education, health care, environment and democracy to name a few) Doug Ford now plans to close the door to oversight and democracy. Stop this now!
R. P.: Doug Ford is a corrupt MAGA. Doug Ford must be stopped.
S. C.: In this volatile and shifting global dynamic we need governance we can trust. It is vital politicians are held to account knowing the public has knowledge of decisions being made. Also there should never be a retroactive aspect to change in legislation. It appears the Ford government is attempting to cover up its actions. That is not okay.
D. M. B.: He doesn't want NAMES revealed from his phone records. He's a Crook.
K. B.: The only reason someone would want to halt freedom of information is if they had something to hide. This Government must be accountable to the people they are supposed to represent.
