🐾 Stop the Forced Relocation
The Issue
🐾 Let Our Street Dogs Stay — They Are Part of Us🐾
Street dogs are more than animals living in our neighborhoods — they are our guardians, healers, and friends.
They offer loyalty without conditions, joy without limits, and protection without asking for anything in return.
Why community dogs matter:
🛡 Natural Guardians — They protect lanes, deter intruders, and keep watch over their territories.
Pest Control — They help control rodent populations naturally.
💙 Emotional Support — Many lonely or elderly residents find comfort in their daily interactions with community dogs.
🎖 Service to the Nation — The Indian Army has trained former street dogs for search, rescue, and guarding duties.
🩺 Healing Power — Therapy and rescue dogs, many of them once strays, have helped trauma victims, hospital patients, and disaster survivors.
The recent Supreme Court order to permanently relocate them to shelters will destroy this bond. Most shelters are overcrowded, underfunded, and not equipped to care for such numbers. Dogs who have lived free all their lives often suffer severe stress and decline in confinement.
The better way forward:
Strengthen nationwide vaccination and sterilization programs — proven to control populations humanely, protect public health, and allow people and dogs to live safely together.
📢 We urge the government and judiciary to reverse this order. Let these dogs remain in their home — the streets they guard, the communities they heal, and the people who love them.
✍ Sign this petition to protect the lives of our street dogs and preserve the natural harmony between humans and animals.
