We citizens of the world, both Jewish and non-Jewish, both within the United States and Israel, and outside those countries, are deeply concerned about the legally unfounded and immoral efforts to expel MK Ofer Cassif from the Knesset, based on false allegations that he has supported terrorism.

These trumped-up charges are based on the outrageous equation between MK Cassif’s opposition to the war against Gaza and his support for peace and the International Court of Justice’s investigation of the events in Gaza and, on the other hand, support for Hamas terrorists.  In unequivocal terms, MK Cassif, who also lost friends and political allies on October the 7th, has condemned terrorism on multiple occasions.  Furthermore, we, the undersigned, believe that MK Cassif’s approach to politics provides the most secure basis to eliminate the threat of terrorism from now into the future for all people living in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

We demand that you:  Vote No on the February 19 resolution to expel MK Cassif!

To quash this illegal and immoral effort to expel MK Cassif within the Knesset, relieves political pressure on the Israeli Supreme Court which would without hesitation throw out these baseless claims, as MK Cassif’s matter would be turned over to them if the Knesset leadership were unable to contain this libel against MK Cassif’s honor.

Leaders Lapid and Gantz, you have stood up for the independence and integrity of the Supreme Court as a matter of your politics and ethics before October the 7th, 2023. Do not further test the far-right fanatics like Smotrich and Ben-Gvir, who are only too willing to continue to smear and isolate the Supreme Court, hoping to turn Israel fully fascist and undermining your own positions and power.
