Update on THE NOISE from our Meeting with Director of Planning & Building

Susan and I had another meeting on 9/11 with Executive Director of Planning and Building Minh Thai, and Alvaro Nunez of Code Enforcement. Here were some of the main points discussed.
Good
-The capstones have been placed on the top of the 15 foot noise barrier wall, which could viewed at the end of N. Olive Street! Hooray!
-Noise conditions are supposed to improve even more once soundproofing material is added on the inner side of the wall (facing building).
-Vines will be added for aesthetics
Bad
-Recently, two large AC units were installed by 901 without pulling any permits! Giant units came down Olive Street by crane and were installed without any inspection. City Officials fined the building for their trespasses.
-The city-owned gate is still being opened and used without permission by the 901 Building.
- Transients and unhoused people use this gate to hop over into the 901 property. We are brainstorming for safe options to discourage people from using the gate in this way.
-Although perma-dumpster on Flower has been relocated, the outdoor area is in desperate need of some clean up and landscaping.
Thank you everyone for your support. We will keep you posted after our biweekly Zoom meetings with Minh! -Rita and Susan
