Petition updateStop the Disposal of Nuclear Waste in Northwestern OntarioHelp us spread the word! Our modest goal: $5,000 for education

Dec 26, 2020

This petition now has over 4,000 signatures. Thank you! Since our last update, Environment North (this petition's author) has become one of the participants in We the Nuclear Free North, along with other individuals and non-profit organizations.

Now, we need to convey our message to those who may not be internet users. The goal of We the Nuclear Free North is to raise $5,000 - a modest amount - to cover the costs of mailing an educational postcard to residents of Northwestern Ontario, especially those living near the proposed disposal site in the Revell Lake area. This education project is volunteer driven, so all we need are the costs of printing and mailing/distribution. The more funds we raise, the more people we can reach.

As you know, the proposed disposal project has implications far beyond the Revell Lake area. An accident at the proposed site, or the effects of time, could impact watershed areas as far west as Winnipeg and as far north as Hudson Bay and beyond; an accident along the transportation route(s) could affect an unfortunate community, or the waters of Lake Superior, the lower Great Lakes, and beyond. We want to make sure that as many people as possible know about the proposed project, so that they may oppose it if they wish.

To support our education campaign...
