Stop the Display of the Palestinian Flag at Milton Town Hall

Stop the Display of the Palestinian Flag at Milton Town Hall
The Issue
I am a resident of Milton, MA, and my Jewish heritage is an integral part of my identity. Recently, I learned about plans to hang a Palestinian flag in front of our Town Hall in the Baron Hugo Gazebo. This deeply concerns me as the Palestinian flag has been increasingly associated with hate and antisemitism. As someone who values peace and unity within our community, this proposed action feels like an intimidation tactic.
The United States does not officially recognize Palestine as a state. According to the U.S Department of State's official stance, while we support peaceful coexistence between Israel and Palestine, formal recognition is yet to be granted due to ongoing conflicts, including the most recent slaughter of innocent men, women and children in Israel on October 7th. Palestine is governed by terrorists, the same terrorists responsible for the October 7th attacks and also for the kidnapping of 240 innocent people, ranging in age from 9 months old to 85 years old.
Our town hall should reflect our shared values as Americans - respect for all citizens regardless of their ethnic or religious background. Hanging a flag that could potentially incite division or discomfort among residents contradicts these principles.
Let us remember that Milton is home to diverse individuals with varying beliefs and backgrounds. It's crucial that we maintain an environment where everyone feels safe and respected.
I urge you all - fellow residents of Milton - to join me in voicing opposition against this decision by signing this petition. Let us stand together for unity, peace, and mutual respect within our community.
