Some of what we’ve done ✅
- Asked the council and Severn Trent for the key documents about A27 and the sewage pipeline plan mitigation (FOI & EIR).
- Highlighted the clash in explanations about the closed footpath and asked for the paperwork behind that decision.
- Found all the original approved site plans for the Bellway estate (paths/green spaces) - later changes were refused.
- Flagged risks of relying on unadopted estate paths to reach A27 e.g. unsafe/unfinished fencing past water basins and further risks of footpath stop ups without consults.
- Collected on-the-ground evidence: very low water locally, photos, and wildlife records including protected species.
- Noted and informed councillors on gaps in how residents have been consulted, especially at Reg18 and via the Local Plan Database email.
- Noted how the green buffer by the National Forest would be squeezed for a second time despite councillor concerns in 2016 Local Planning meetings regarding Ashtree Gardens Estate (LtD).
- Prepared simple one-page notes for councillors and draft letters ready for a promised dedicated meeting (date TBC).
- Spoken to neighbouring councils (MP's included) who strongly oppose and/or have concerns about the 'mitigation' Packington Pipeline plan (flooding, nutrient overload, farming abstraction/ Farmers harassed by ST agents).
- Emailed LCC Highways, Natural England and the Environmental Agency regarding resident concerns.
Waiting on ⏳
- Council reply to our information request (meeting dates, overdue FOI, SAR).
- Water company’s answer on the pipeline details (EIR).
- The actual meeting date/agenda where A27 will be discussed and if locals can speak/ ask questions.
- Builder/council documents on the footpath closure (LCC and Bellway replied - awaiting NWLDC).
- HRA, SEA/SA documents as well as an up to date ShelAa document.
- A27 being assessed fairly against other land (e.g. HS2 phase 2b land).
- Further correspondence with Amanda Hacks team following data review
How you can help 🙌
- Share this petition with one neighbour to push us past 500
- Email your councillors: ask them to pause A27 until (a) safe, adoptable access is proven, (b) river risks/ mitigation are properly dealt with and scientifically proven, and (c) a real green buffer is kept by the National Forest
- Add a comment saying why you signed (they do read them)
If you’re nearby: record wildlife on NatureSpot.org, and snap clear photos of any access/safety issues
