STOP the development of houses on our GREEN SPACE LP1511 Highfield Road Hemsworth

The Issue

For 60+ cherished years, this field our Green Space at the top of Highfield Road Hemsworth, Pontefract, UK has been used by so many in our community. Hosting many football games, witnessing many first bike rides, and being the cherished site of many family gatherings and friendly encounters, this green space serves more than a mere park- it's a key to maintaining our physical health, mental wellbeing, and community spirit. Our four-legged friends have also found a sanctuary here, meeting up with their furry companions as their owners engage in friendly exchanges.

In emergency situations, this valuable resource has recently served as a landing spot for our air ambulance, solidifying its status as indispensable to our community's overall welfare. Yet, despite its historic significance and multifaceted utility, our green space stands on the brink of becoming another housing development.

Our town is already stretched to its limits, struggling under the weight of continuous growth.  We cannot afford to lose our green-space, our reprieve from urbanization, our thriving hub of community activity - all in the name of more housing projects. Our infrastructure is strained as it is; we can't cope with more developments or increased drain on resources.

Our plea is simple: Don't build over our shared history, our communal refuge. Let's not rob future generations of the joy of playing football on that field, learning to ride their bikes, or experiencing the simple pleasure of a dog walk turned into a friendly rendezvous. We urge the decision-makers to reconsider the proposal and act in favor of the community's best interests. Preserve our green-space. Please sign this petition to protect our community's green lungs and the experiences they foster.
