Stop the over-developing in Brunswick County NC-Longwood Rd-Hwy 130-Russtown 1,266 acres
The Issue
It's not new news that there's so much development in our county but where/when is it going to stop? Are they building new schools? Both of my children's schools are overcrowded! They sent out flyers, emails, and calls begging for bus drivers, substitute teachers, and full-time teachers! There's very few schools for thousands of homes being built all over the county! We are short workers all over the county right now, fast food, blue collar, and low income workers. I'm a business owner myself and its hard finding workers throughout the years. These homes they are building are NOT for these families! These homes are for middle to high class, retirement, vacation, half year, investment, and AirBnB homes. Our county was overcrowded before these homes were built. During tourist season, we run out of food and supplies at stores, long waits at restaurants, traffic is horrible, etc. We dont have a huge hospital or multiple hospitals to care for tens of thousands more people. We have seen an incline in our wildlife dead on the roads. The wildlife centers are flooded with animals. I have seen more aggressive wildlife coming on my property putting my animals and children at risk just from them clearing land a few acres away. There was a momma bear with her babies running through a parking lot from them clearing land. Our wildlife are literally running for their lives! When is the cut off? They are having a meeting of 3,000 more homes built from Longwood Rd to Whiteville Rd./ Hwy 130, BOTH of these roads are already heavy traffic areas of 2 lane roads with tractors on it daily and speeders running 60-80 mph. I was one to give CPR to a firefighter that was hit while riding his motorcycle, which passed away days later from the injuries. Thats not the only deadly accident on these roads. They do NOT need anymore traffic! St. James area is flooded with traffic. I hate to see 211 in the next couple of years. I guess our county has millions of dollars for road changes but can't replace the satellite that detects tornadoes and storms! The other one is blocked by too many trees and does not service our area good enough. We were hit with tornadoes a couple of years ago and they weren't even detected! They said then they did not have the budget to replace it or repair the problems. I guess they are looking at all the tax dollars they will get each year from these homes being built and cars on the road but we will suffer until they pull in enough. More people=more crime...More traffic=more accidents=higher insurances (auto, home, flood)
