Stop The Destruction of Westminster Hills Open Space

The Issue

On June 3, Westminster City Council stated their intention to re-zone the 470-acre Westminster Hills Open Space as an off-leash dog park.
Recent studies confirm that currently allowed dog use is destroying the open space. Endangered species like burrowing owls are disturbed by dogs trampling their habitats, and native shortgrass prairie is dying due to dog trampling and waste. Runners, bicyclists, families with small children, the physically fragile and owners of reactive and smaller dogs are currently unable to use the space without being chased by overeager dogs.

Help protect this fragile ecosystem by telling Westminster City Council to limit off-leash dog access to the land. This land is for more than just dog owners: it’s for the entire community and generations to come. Open Space should be open for all!
