Dear Supporters
Along with some 50 others Twane has been booked on a secret charter flight operated by Titan Airways within days. The date that has been suggested by Jamaican authorities but which is being kept secret by the UK Government is 6 February. Twane's windiw of removal goes up to 15 February.
We have been working hard to challenge this legally continuing through the weekend and we believe that the British government has made a huge error and not adhered to guidance in not giving Twane British citizenship after he was discharged from the army.
We think that there is a strong comparison between the treatment of Commonwealth soldiers and the Windrush generation and in the same way the latter are not supposed to be protected from removal even if they have not yet concluded the process to receive British citizenship formally , so should veterans such as Twane.
However we do not agree with this charter flight at all or that any of those booked on it that we have heard of should be deported, this includes other veterans, those with Windrush generation grandparents in the UK, with British partners, children & grandchildren. Nobody should be punished twice, if you serve your time and are are rehabilitated that should be it. Had Twane received the after Army care he was entitled to for his PTSD & bipolar condition he would have been in a better place.
We have also been working hard to apply political pressure with regards to Twane's case and to increase impact & awareness working with others who are campaigning against the flight.
As time is of the essence I an sharing some actions you can take;
Because the Jamaican government accept such deportations & comply because they receive money from the UK government;
1. Attend the protest outside the Jamaican High Commission tomorrow at 12 noon.

Because the deportation flights are operated by Titan Airways & piloted by commercial pilots who are members of the union BALPA;

We need an Independent Public Inquiry into the Windrush Scandal, my trade union, the PCS have called for this through this petition, please can you sign & share so that this issue is raised in Parliament as there should not be any deportations like this until therr is one. There is still far too much injustice and distress being caused to families.
