Dear Warriors for Education,
The battle to save our children's future has intensified. The latest report from The Herald has exposed the harsh reality: 45 Glasgow schools will be decimated by teacher cuts, leaving only headteachers not in the classroom during the school week. This isn't just an issue—it's a crisis. Our children's safety, support, and education are under direct attack.
The Grim Reality:
Glasgow City Council is pushing forward with a devastating plan to cut 172 teaching posts immediately, with 450 more at risk over three years. This follows a budget deal made without considering the catastrophic impact on our schools. Already, protests have erupted in Govan, Shawlands, and outside the council chambers, but we need to do more.
Why We Must Act Now:
The consequences are dire. Increased pupil absences, a lack of support for those with additional needs, lower attainment levels, and a diminished capacity to respond to safeguarding issues are just the beginning. Our children deserve better than a compromised education system that prioritises budget cuts over their future.
Our Call to Action:
We need to amplify our voices. Share this petition on every platform—Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, and more. Each signature is a stand against the erosion of our education system. Each share spreads the word and rallies more to our cause.
Join the Fight:
This is our moment to stand strong. Contact local representatives, join protests, and make your voice heard. We are a formidable force when united, and we cannot let these cuts go unchallenged. Our children's education is not expendable—it's a right that must be fiercely protected.
