Stop the Conversion of CR 102 & CR 104 to One-Way Roads

Stop the Conversion of CR 102 & CR 104 to One-Way Roads
The Issue
Living in Florida's [Oxford area], I've witnessed firsthand how changes in local infrastructure impact our daily lives. Having resided here for 30 years, the proposal to convert County Road 102 and County Road 104 into one-way roads is not only inconvenient but also an unwarranted imposition on the residents of our community.
For years, these roads have been the lifeline of our community, offering quick and direct routes to our homes, schools, and businesses. Transitioning to a one-way system will drastically alter the ease of travel we've come to rely on, forcing us to drive additional miles simply to access our own neighborhoods. This is more than a mere inconvenience; it's a direct blow to our lifestyle and daily schedules.
Local authorities argue that these changes will ease traffic congestion. However, such plans disregard the real impacts on residents – increased travel times, unnecessary fuel costs, and the strain on our daily lives that result from being forced out of our way. Not to mention, emergency response times could suffer greatly, potentially endangering lives when every minute counts.
There is little evidence suggesting that the proposed change will significantly alleviate traffic issues on these roads. Instead, it presents as a political maneuver, prioritizing bureaucratic interests over the needs of local residents. We should focus on alternative solutions like improving the roadways by widening, repaving, without sacrificing the beauty of the roads for better travel.
This petition aims to halt the one-way conversion until a thorough, transparent, and resident-inclusive study with a neighborhood meeting for other options, is conducted. Let’s engage with community members, traffic experts, and local businesses to identify better solutions that respect and preserve our community's needs.
Sign this petition to let our voices be heard and ensure that community-friendly, practical, and fair solutions are prioritized over other agendas. Together, we can safeguard the accessibility and harmony of our neighborhoods.
