I am a resident of the Kiwale neighborhood where the controversial Solid Waste Transfer (SWT) plant is being rapidly established opposite KVille Society Ravet. Basically Solid Waste Treatment, refers to processes and technologies used to manage and process solid waste, aiming to reduce its volume, recover valuable resources, and minimize environmental impact. These plants can handle various waste streams, including dry, wet, and mixed waste. This project, executed under the auspices of PCMC corporation, is occurring despite strong objections from over a thousand locals. As well as Opposition from ordinance factory located at Dehu Road. This project is being set up hardly within 100 meter of residential society of more than 700 families. It's an alarming development that work continues under police protection, an indicator of the higher forces at play. 

The core concern isn't merely infrastructural disruption, but the potential health impact looming over our community. SWT plants are known contributors to environmental pollution which could lead to a range of health conditions—from respiratory issues to cardiovascular diseases. A study published in the Journal of Environmental Health (2010) indicated that people living within 5 km of waste facilities are at greater health risks. With the plant in our backyard, the hazards are too close for comfort. The other concern raised is regarding the priority being given to this project considering the fact that there are other areas within the city which needs more attention. This is a clear indication that there is some corruption involved for setting up this project.

This isn't a stand against progress or waste management. Rather, it's a plea to consider the welfare of individuals whose lives are invariably tethered to this development. Public spaces should be utilised for the wellbeing of the residents—parks, playgrounds, and green spaces, not industrial infrastructures that are potentially harmful.

Therefore, we request immediate intervention into this matter, demanding a relocation of the SWT plant away from residential neighborhoods and towards a more suitable, non-residential area. Respect our right to live in a clean, safe, and healthy environment. Please, stand with us and sign this petition.
