Public Pressure is WORKING! A historic moment in our fight to protect Big Bend.

🚨 BREAKING: A FEDERAL COURT HAS ORDERED BIG BEND CONSTRUCTION TO STOP.
A federal judge has issued an emergency injunction blocking border barrier and road construction across the Big Bend region while the court considers a lawsuit challenging the federal government’s sweeping waiver of environmental and other laws used to fast-track the project.
This means the contractors cannot resume work while the injunction is in place.
The ruling comes after months of extraordinary advocacy from landowners, local businesses, river outfitters, conservation organizations, community members, and people across Texas and the country who have stood up for Big Bend.
The lawsuit was brought by the Center for Biological Diversity, Friends of the Ruidosa Church, and a Big Bend-area river guide and landowner, represented by attorneys at the Center for Biological Diversity and Texas Civil Rights Project.
Construction had already begun inside Big Bend National Park before CBP announced a temporary pause on August 17. That pause expired September 30, meaning work could have resumed.
The October 2nd court order keeps that from happening while the legal challenge moves forward.
This is a major moment for Big Bend — but the case is not over.
For now, though: the bulldozers stay stopped— and we could not be more excited about it.
We are deeply grateful to everyone fighting to protect this landscape, its communities, its wildlife, its river, and its future. We couldn't have done this without you.
Our borderlands are worth fighting for. Thank you to everyone who is standing with us to protect Big Bend.
Juntos somos más fuertes. Stronger together. 🕊️
