Petition updateStop the construction of the proposed Norwich Western Link RoadBiodiversity - Failure to Consult

There is no doubt the Norwich Western Link chosen route  will  cause serious environmental and landscape harm as it crosses sensitive river valley landscapes and flood plains which will necessitate the building of viaduct and raised road beds. The route will pass through/very close to ancient woodlands. In short the potential for environmental and heritage harm is very significant and  we should all be contacting Norfolk County Council to ask for an explanation for the failure of the Council to consult with the public on these specific issues

The route was chosen with this knowledge but during the consultation period leading up the decision little if any information on the inevitable environmental damage was provided to the public.  In particular the bat surveys were incomplete at the time of the decision and the data was not available to the public.   This questions the adequacy and legality of the public consultation leading to the decision.

Answers to the following questions should be demanded  - please contact your local MP/Counsellor and NCC

Please supply the results of the completed bat surveys?

How will  you be able to prevent the decline of native populations of animals?

How will you prevent a decrease in genetic diversity?

How will you address the  isolation of an area of viable habitat?

How will you prevent reduction in viable habitats and often extreme separation?

How will you be able to replace ancient trees and the bio diversity living within those trees?

How will you prevent inevitable contamination of the chalk based stream?
