Stop the Construction of the Medical Center in C1

Stop the Construction of the Medical Center in C1
The Issue
The rapid growth of Clemson University has brought excitement and opportunity for many; however, it has also introduced significant challenges, one of which is the severe scarcity of parking options for students and staff alike. With the recent announcement to construct a new medical center in the C1 parking lot, the situation is set to worsen, further straining resources and access to available parking.
For many students who commute daily, finding suitable parking is already an arduous task. As it stands, two vital parking lots are currently being consumed by new construction projects, leaving students scrambling to find spots and risking being late for class. The intention to build the medical center on C1 would mean another loss of precious parking space and would exacerbate the existing problem.
While we understand the necessity for a new medical center, the location choice seems to overlook the needs and well-being of the commuting student body. It's crucial that we find an alternative location that doesn’t sacrifice essential parking space. By reallocating the site of the medical center to another area on campus, Clemson University can demonstrate its commitment to addressing the needs of all students without compromising their daily academic routine.
We urge the decision-makers at Clemson University to consider other viable locations for the new medical center that would not impact the already limited parking facilities. A mutually beneficial solution can be achieved that supports both our educational infrastructure and the logistical needs of the students.
With your support, we can ensure that our campus is both progressive and practical in meeting the needs of its community.
Please sign this petition to request Clemson University to reconsider the placement of the new medical center, and prioritize sustainable solutions for parking and construction planning on campus.
