I also wanted to thank everyone that signed the petition. The petition gave us a voice at town council. My town hall deputation speech was helpful to inform the current mayor, deputy mayor and councillors about our collective community concerns.
If elected for Trustee I have the time to dedicate to help all our students and our school communities. I have over 30 years experience in finance to help balance the budget. I am a mom, grandma, gardener, bookkeeper, swimmer, boater and also a pet owner. I find happiness in the little things in life like todays rain on a sunny day.
I believe in democracy, public education, accountability, student success & fairness for all our teachers. I was an elected GTA school board trustee from 2018 to 2022, during COVID, sincerely helping parents in those confusing times. I was also a part-time business course instructor for 10 years helping college students with their business plans.
I care about all the families and I want to help out however I could as elected trustee to make schools smarter and safer for everyone. I would read all the policies, procedures, agendas, minutes, etc.. and make recommendations in the committees and board meetings. A balanced school board budget is very important so the Ministry of Education doesn’t have rights to dictate further over KPR. With my experience in finance, education and life, I can definitely be an asset to the board of trustees if elected.
Democracy is very important and we are so blessed to have this opportunity to elect our local public school board trustees at Kawartha Pine Ridge DSB.
I was the treasurer for a Royal Canadian Legion Branch in the GTA for 15 years. I am now a Legion member in Campbellford.
I truly enjoyed stepping up to manage our save the pool petition and to collectively represent everyone concerned in my council deputation.
If you have any questions, comments or concerns regarding public education, curriculum, bookkeeping, payroll and / or municipal issues, please feel free to contact me in the future. Thanks for your time and consideration!
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Terrell
